About James
James W. Knowles, Jr. has spent his legal career closely connected to Knowles Law Firm, joining the Omaha practice in 1981 after earning his law degree from Creighton Law School. His early work included both personal injury representation and insurance defense, providing him with experience from different sides of injury disputes. For more than three decades, his practice has been devoted exclusively to representing people injured because of the negligence or conduct of others.
Knowles is a trial-focused attorney whose practice is devoted entirely to litigation. He has tried jury cases in both federal and Nebraska state courts, including matters heard in county and district courts as well as workers’ compensation proceedings. His courtroom experience extends beyond trial work; he has successfully argued appeals before both the Nebraska Court of Appeals and the Nebraska Supreme Court. He has also shared his litigation experience as a presenter at seminars for the Nebraska Association of Trial Attorneys.
His practice covers a wide range of plaintiff personal injury matters, including automobile, truck, motorcycle, boating and other accidents, along with wrongful death, product liability, dog bite claims, and workers’ compensation cases. He is admitted to practice before the Nebraska State Bar and the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska.
Knowles earned a Bachelor of Business Administration, graduating cum laude from the University of Miami, before completing his legal education at Creighton Law School. While in law school, he also passed the CPA examination and has maintained a Certificate of Public Accountancy. Outside his legal practice, he and his wife, Rjean, spend much of their time with their grandchildren and are involved in raising thoroughbred racehorses at their farm in Kentucky.
