About David
David J. Ruyle, Jr. is a San Diego criminal defense attorney with more than 20 years of legal experience. Born and raised in San Diego, he has built his practice around providing personal attention and dedicated representation to individuals facing criminal charges. His practice was shaped by early experience with his family’s estate planning work before he found his calling in criminal defense and established his own independent law practice.
Ruyle brings a distinctive perspective to criminal defense through his experience as a Reserve Police Officer for the City of El Cajon. After completing the police academy and earning his POST certificate, he encountered cases ranging from minor offenses to serious violent crimes. This experience gave him firsthand insight into law enforcement and the criminal justice process while reinforcing his belief in treating every client with patience and respect.
He also has experience teaching Criminal Justice courses and previously interned with the San Diego County Public Defender’s Office, handling felony and misdemeanor matters.
